1964 Chevrolet BelAir

My first car. The car was originally purchased by my great aunt. In 1976 she was ready for a new car and my parents bought this from her for $350.

The list of features is quite extensive. It had tires and wheels, seats and a steering wheel. There was even some rust since it did spend it's entire life in Michigan. It had the powerful (not) 230ci in-line six backed by the 2 speed powerglide automatic transmission. Manual drum brakes on all four corners and manual steering.

This was the car that taught me about basic maintenance like brake jobs and oil changes. I also did a bit of rust repair and, of course, installed a stereo.

The highest speed achieved (according to the speedometer) was about 85MPH. However a friend in his car said we were doing over 100MPH. Which of our speedometers was correct? Probably neither.

I only drove the car for about a year. I then inherited my Grandmother's 1972 Chevy Caprice. It had a 400ci V8 and air-conditioning so the BelAir was sold (for I believe $750).
