Rather than spend months looking for just the right car, this time we
decided to order exactly what we wanted. Since we wanted a new car and we were
planing to vacation in Europe, we spent some time researching BMW's European
delivery program. Turns out that it actually saves you money to pick up the
car in Munich.
We ordered the car in February, picked it up in May, and finally to delivery back in the states in July. Not the quickest way to get a car but there are some perks.
We got to drive the car in Germany on the autobahn. There we could cruise at about 120 MPH and saw 140 MPH a couple of times. Very briefly we tipped the speedometer needle past 150 MPH, and it was all legal. We spent a day at the BMW Welt (world) picking up the car. They really turn it into an event. And we saved money on our vacation.
So what did we get? A Lemans Blue, Cream Beige Dakota interior, with the premium, cold weather, M-sport, convenience packages.
