Car Club Event Planning Resources - Courses
How are you going to get there? One of the best ways to start is to take out a good map and look for some promising roads. There are also some good road resources on the Internet (see below).
Once you have chosen some roads, go scout them out for yourself. Sometimes what looks good on paper may not work out well as a driving event (roads may turn to dirt, be closed, have heavy construction or be poorly maintained). Also be sure that the final destination, whether it be a park, restaurant or other locale, is suitable for a large group.
Ask yourself these questions when choosing a route:
- How long do I want the drive to be?
- Where should the event begin?
- Are there good places to stop along the way for bathroom breaks or places to change clothes (hot/cold weather considerations), get water, stretch or get gas?
- When going as a group, are there areas to regroup after major intersections so the group can stay together?
- Does my destination have enough parking?
- Do I need to make reservations for the group?
The following websites can be used as a resource to find great roads. Please let us know if you find others so we can add them to the list!
