Single Leaf Spin & Grin
By Genny Paauwephotos by Bob Paauwe
About 25 cars attended the April 21st Single Leaf Spin put on by Doug and Roxanne Pryor. For the third year, our leaders and the vineyard owners (The Millers) hosted our club at their hilltop grape ranch. More than anything, I am still full and satisfied from the wonderful outdoor meal the group enjoyed.
The fun run began in Rancho Cordova and proceeded to wind through the foothills, criss-crossing Highway 50. The Pryors made it look easy. With their flock of Miatas (and one Honda Prelude for good measure), we went on some old favorites, like Scott Rd., Stone House Rd., Latrobe Rd., Green Valley Rd., Forni Rd., Mt. Aukum Rd. and Slug Gulch. The weather was nice and the landscape still green from the spring rains.
The Pryors finished the run by corraling all the Miatas in the parking lot of the vineyard, located in Shenandoah Valley. The Amador County valley rivals the famous Napa Valley with the number and quality of wineries. If you're looking for a laid back, less pretentious half-day trip to the wine country, look no further than this area.
While we ate and socialized, we were able to look down the hillside, past the stunning view of our own Miatas to the wonderful scenery of the area. The sun warmed us and the food was scrumptious. We just couldn't help but smile!
We look forward to the fourth annual Spin next year!
